We started with a simple idea: just the two of us, one vehicle, two cats, and the belief that travel should feel personal. Before the rebranding, we were CarBuddy. We wanted our guests to feel like they were visiting a friend, not just making a transaction.

As we grew, we evolved into Varen. The name is new, but our DNA hasn’t changed. We still run things hands-on and oversee every detail ourselves. Whether you meet Matt and Adriana in person or ride with one of our trusted local partners, you are in expert hands. We still treat every journey as if it were for our own friends – because that’s exactly how we started.

We are a fully licensed tour operator authorized by the Icelandic Tourist Board.

Iceland is unpredictable - storms happen, flights get delayed. We are quick enough to adjust plans on the fly, making sure your journey stays smooth no matter what the weather throws at us.

THE OPERATIONS TEAM

Matt keeps things moving – routes, timing, plans, and all the small details in between. He’s good at figuring things out on the go and making sure trips don’t feel rushed or chaotic. Likes a solid plan, but knows Iceland doesn’t always follow one. If something needs adjusting, he’ll handle it (usually before you even notice).

Adriana takes care of everything behind the scenes – from the website to how your whole experience is put together. Quiet, observant, and very detail-focused. She prefers things to work properly rather than loudly. If something feels easy and smooth on your side, there’s a good chance she had something to do with it.

Behind the scenes, we have a dedicated office team that handles bookings and logistics so everything runs smoothly.
